General

Large manufacturing plants involved in the production of paper, glass, cement, board, bricks as well as many industrial processes all rely heavily on a superior design and installation of the appropriate refractories and this situation demands the experience and quality which can be produced by Cameron Furnace Company. We have been involved in practically all of the types of installations requiring service today. We have over many years built up a reputation for the manufacturing of specialist castable mould and shapes which are frequently required. These precast shapes can be made to practically any design incorporating propriety retention systems and reinforced to suit the working conditions.

A number of these situations are related to specialist manufacturing processes which can involve extremely high temperatures found in vacuum furnaces, around 2000°C to relatively low temperatures of around 500°C found in aluminium foil stress relieving furnaces. There also exist a number of foundry operations which require the use of refractories for the launders and crucibles. Development has taken place over the last few years with low cement concretes which are extremely hard wearing and offer resistance to mechanical damage and slag build up. Gunning qualities of this material are now extensively in use offering flexibility and access in difficult circumstances.

The installation of ceramic fibre linings particularly in modular form is a quick, efficient way of lining a vessel. Ceramic Fibre is a stable product which unlike its more traditional counterparts is not subject to thermal shock and can be heated and cooled at random without any serious resultant damage. If anything, a slight shrinkage takes place with Ceramic Fibre but this can be rectified by expending a little time now and then stemming the gaps which might be apparent. Providing there is no possibility of mechanical damage, the introduction of a Ceramic Fibre lining can prove to be an economical solution to refractory design.
